FAQs
-
Recruitment is held two times during the academic school year, once in the fall semester and once in the spring semester. They are typically hosted within 3 weeks of the start of the semester. Our recruitment is separate from the Panhellenic Council’s recruitment week at WSU as our organization is part of the Multicultural Greek Council. To stay up to date with our recruitment schedule follow us on our social media @wsu.syz, and/or message us.
-
Absolutely not. Sigma Psi Zeta enforces a strict non-hazing policy. Our organization's national philanthropy is to combat the violence against women, and stand up against the disrespect of women in all its myriad forms. Subsequently, to degrade intakes by hazing would contradict the core values our sisterhood was founded upon.
-
There is no “typical” Sigma. SYZterhood is not a mold for women to fit into, nor does it define a person's character. Each SYZter contributes their talent, idealism, devotion, and energy to Sigma Psi Zeta, giving our SYZterhood the character it has today. With the unique bonds and special memories formed as SYZters, we hope that each member will change our SYZterhood, helping it to grow and evolve through time.
-
Nope. Just be on the lookout on our social media for details on our recruitment week and just show up whenever you're available!
-
A bid is a formal invitation to join a Greek organization and is usually given at the end of the recruitment week.
-
In order to be eligible for a bid, you must attend (1) General Interest Meeting, at least (2) other recruitment events, an interview, and have a minimum 2.7 GPA.
-
Both the charter (on the local level) and the national office collect dues and membership fees from every member. Most groups have a one-time new member and initiation fee plus reoccurring dues on a semester-by-semester basis. The majority of the dues collected is used to pay for national insurance, while the remainder is to cover operating expenses.
-
Yes! We can work with you to develop a payment plan.
-
Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc. does not have a brother fraternity. As a sorority that prizes strong, independent women, we have made a deliberate choice to remain unaffiliated with another Greek organization.
